Hazardous LED Fixtures

7 models, IECEx certified for hazardous areas.

A hazardous location is any area where a flammable gas, vapour or combustible dust can be present in enough quantity to ignite. Refineries, gas plants, tank farms, chemical stores, paint shops and grain or powder handling all have them. A luminaire installed there must not become the source of ignition, either by a spark inside it or by a hot outer surface.

IEC 60079 grades these areas into zones. Zone 1 and Zone 21 are where an explosive atmosphere is likely in normal operation; Zone 2 and Zone 22 are where it is unlikely and short-lived. Gas zones call for equipment protection level Gb (Zone 1) or Gc (Zone 2), dust zones for Db or Dc. The temperature class (T1 to T6) on the marking must stay below the ignition temperature of the gas on the area classification drawing.

Every NLC hazardous LED fixture below carries an IECEx certificate. EXP-HD, EXP-LP and the Zone 1 version of EXP-LI are rated for Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22. EXP-HB, EXP-HC and EXP-FL are rated for Zone 2 gas and Zones 21 and 22 dust. Each product page lists the full marking, the certificate number and the temperature class by wattage and ambient, so the right model can be matched to the area drawing before ordering.
