"LIGHT-EM-N" reads cleaner than "Lighting Emergency Normal" in a 200-layer drawing. Use a fixed prefix (M, E, P, A) plus a discipline-system-state suffix. ISO 13567 is the template.
Re-draw the same luminaire 80 times and one revision costs a week. Make it a block with attributes, one edit propagates. CTB plot styles control colour and line weight at print.
Model space holds the drawing at 1:1. Layout tabs hold viewports, title block, and scale. Print from layout or the linework comes out the wrong size every time.

Layer chaos costs more on site than any drafting time saved.
ISO 13567 or AIA, doesn't matter, pick one, write it in the BIM Execution Plan, and reject submissions that don't follow it. Inconsistent layer names break Xref overlays, plotting, and quantity takeoffs.
CTB plots by color (legacy AutoCAD). STB plots by named style (modern). Mixing them in one project means every print needs a different setup. CTB for compatibility with older AutoCAD consultants; STB for clean modern workflows.
Insert a luminaire as a block with TAG, WATTAGE, CCT, IES_FILE attributes. Edit one block definition and every instance updates. Copy-paste breaks the link, 200 luminaires later, the LED spec changes and you have a week's work, not five minutes.
Bind = death. The architect updates the plan, you re-link Xref and replot. Bind copies the architect's layers into your file, doubles file size, and orphans your layer naming.
Layouts hold viewports at scale, title block in real-world A1, plotted at 1:1. Drawing in model space and printing Fit to paper is how you end up with a 1:73 plan that looks fine and nobody can scale off.
