Drop a wire, ACAD-E numbers it from your scheme. Edit one symbol and every cross-reference updates. Manual numbering survives until change order one.

Symbol libraries follow IEC or NEMA.

Pick one standard and stay there. Mixed symbols on the same set means contractors call to ask. IEC for Saudi projects, NEMA only when the spec explicitly says so.

Panel layouts come from the schematic.

Five decisions that ride on AC Electrical

Project-based, not file-based.

AC Electrical's wire numbers, cross-references, and BOMs span the project, not one sheet. Setting up the project file at the start (drawing list, project properties) takes 30 minutes and pays back 30 hours over the engagement.

Real catalog data beats generic symbols.

Use the Schneider, ABB or Siemens catalog libraries to drop real part numbers into the drawing. Your BOM exports as a procurement document, not a re-typing exercise. Generic IEC symbols are for the sales drawing only.

PLC I/O builder kills the spreadsheet workflow.

Import an Excel I/O list and AC Electrical generates the schematics. Edit any tag and the schematic updates. Manual PLC schematics in vanilla CAD are how single-line errors propagate to ten sheets.

Wire numbering rules need a project standard.

Sequential vs by-sheet vs by-source-target. Pick one at kick-off; AC Electrical enforces it across the project. Mid-project changes mean re-numbering 500 wires manually.
